About us

From Community Roots to Culinary Celebration

Taste of the Desert was born from a shared vision between Ivan Davis, a proud Twentynine Palms resident and respected food service provider, and Terence Latimer, Executive Director of 29 Dines.

The two first connected at a local community gathering, where conversations about food quickly turned into ideas for something bigger—an event that would spotlight the creativity, passion, and talent of desert-based culinary artists.

Quality Flavors, Hi-Desert Culture

Drawing from Ivan’s deep knowledge of local flavors and Terence’s expertise in community engagement, they set out to create a platform where food, culture, and community could come together in one vibrant experience.

What began as a conversation has grown into Taste of the Desert, a celebration that supports local farmers, chefs, and artisans, while inviting residents and visitors to discover the unique tastes and stories of the High Desert.

Together, Ivan and Terence are committed to making Taste of the Desert a place where connections are made, creativity is celebrated, and the rich culinary traditions of our desert home are shared with all.
